Device activation timing: Electrophysiological, psychophysical findings and implications for device use

This webinar overviews patterns of impedance, electrophysiological, psychophysical results and device usage over the first 12 weeks post device activation. It is hypothesised that the map parameters and device usage stabilise at the same post activation interval irrespective of device activation time.

Course Information

A device activation (DA) audit for 100 clients was conducted over a 3 month period to identify variables that could lead to optimal scheduling of appointments. A review of health status, dizziness, post surgical recovery and client satisfaction suggested anywhere between a day to 4 weeks post surgery was preferred by clinicians, who counselled clients accordingly. Based on the evidence gathered, clinical guidelines were developed to implement device activations for children and adults within one week of surgery. All other activations were to be within 2 weeks of surgery, unless there were extenuating circumstances.
