Associate Professor Catherine Birman, MBBS, PhD, FRACS, GAICD, is an Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and a number of other public and private hospitals. She has extensive experience in cochlear implant surgery and research in this area. She is the Medical Director of the SCIC Cochlear Implant Program, an RIDBC service.  She has been a past Chairman of the NSW division of the Australian Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, and past Secretary of the Australian and New Zealand Paediatric Otolaryngology Society. In 2017 she was awarded the New South Wales Premier’s Award for Woman of the Year and in 2018 was awarded the Australian Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Medal. A/Prof Birman joined the Board in 2011.
