John Newall completed an undergraduate degree in psychology, then a master’s degree in Clinical Audiology whilst concurrently working as a research assistant at the National Acoustic Laboratories Australia. Subsequently he worked in the audiology department of Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, completing his tenure there as Deputy Head/Senior Clinician. John completed his PhD in 2016.
John currently works as the Deputy Director of audiology at Macquarie University and convenes the advanced hearing aid, audiological rehabilitation, and public health units. John owns and operates a private practice located in Westmead Private Hospital providing; audiological assessment and rehabilitation to adult and paediatric clients. John’s current research areas include; the epidemiology of hearing loss in the developing world, hearing rehabilitation in the developing world, factors affecting clinician hearing aid technology prescription, and classroom acoustics.
