Dr. Kirsty Gardner-Berry is a diagnostic audiologist at the Sydney Cochlear Implant Centre (SCIC), and consultant audiologist in newborn hearing screening at Scanmedics. Kirsty completed her Bachelor of Science and post-graduate diploma in Audiology at the University of Melbourne; her Masters in audiology at Macquarie University; and Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Sydney. Her main areas of interest are in the early identification of hearing loss, and the use of electrophysiological testing techniques to assess and manage hearing disorders.
Kirsty’s PhD was on auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder (ANSD) in infants, and she has studied the use of electrocochleography (ECochG), auditory brainstem response, cochlear implant evoked electrical auditory brainstem response (ImpEABR), and cortical auditory evoked potentials (CAEPs) in this patient group. Her current clinical and research work includes the use of cortical auditory evoked potentials to assess auditory function and promote optimal hearing aid following newborn hearing screening.
